Name and HistoryThe Hop-1 protein from Caenorhabditis elegans is an intramembrane, aspartic endopeptidase. Hop-1 and Sel-12 are homologues of chordate presenilins. Hop-1 can rescue the egg-laying defects caused by mutations in the Sel-12 gene (Li & Greenwald, 1997).
