Pharmaceutical relevanceWork with strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa differing in secretion of pseudolysin, in a mouse model of diffuse panbronchiolitis, indicated that the enzyme is a potent inflammatory factor, leading the authors to suggest that control of release of pseudolysin by P. aeruginosa may be beneficial for patients with this condition (Yanagihara et al., 2003).
